Women’s Health Physical Therapy services address the unique problems of the pelvic region that can have a significant impact on a woman’s quality of life. At Physioactive we offer specialized in women’s health physical therapy. We treat women who have a variety of conditions related to pregnancy and pelvic floor dysfunction. When normal function of the pelvic region is disrupted, social, sexual, interpersonal and professional life may be affected.

  • Frequent urination or waking at night to urinate

  • Muscle strength & flexibility of the pelvic floor, hips, abdominals, and back
  • Mobility and pain of fascia (connective tissue) and any scars
  • Joint alignment of pelvis and spine
  • Posture and body mechanics
  • Use of Biofeedback for pelvic floor and related muscles

Physical Therapy treatment for pelvic floor disorders may include:

  • Gentle techniques to correct joint alignment
  • Pelvic floor and core strengthening
  • Posture correction and flexibility exercises
  • Specialized massage techniques and myofascial release
  • Relaxation techniques assisted by biofeedback
  • Bladder retraining
  • Electrical stimulation to assist pelvic floor training or pain control
  • Body mechanics/ ergonomics training for infant care and work/ home activities
